don't mention the war
So, living for the moment and all that, we headed off to Germany for the weekend to see the World Cup.
Destination Cologne. Aiming to get tickets for Czech Republic v Ghana, we failed miserably. No ticket touts, no tickets, and a cast of thousands (mainly Czechs but also loads of Brits) with exactly the same idea meant a fruitless couple of hours stood on the roadside. Still, we did get to experience the famed German wit as they asked us whether we wanted to pay upwards of 600 euros for tickets that they had no intention of selling and just wanted a figure to show off to their mates later with.
Ticketless we ended up at the FanFest in the city centre alongside more people than you have ever seen in your life. And mostly all drunk.
5 countries in one weekend meant we had to come back Sunday. Time for possibly the world's worst, and most heinously overpriced, mussels in Brugge, paddling in the sea at Dunkirk and then experiencing World Cup fever France style - ie virtual indifference.
Over on the sister radio station, proceedings have come to a temporary halt at midnight on April 15th, news and views from May 13th to follow soon... whodowethinkwearetogetmarried.blogspot.com
